TOWN OF EASTON MASTER PLAN
Easton, Maryland
Waldon Studio Architects has been working with the Town of Easton Housing Authority in a public private venture with one of the nation’s leading public housing developers in the creation of a 210 unit master plan. The project consists of a mixed use of retail, a radio station, neighborhood community center, 72 senior living units, 72 workforce housing units, 28 for sale townhouses, and 33 senior living for sale cottage units. The site layout respected Doverbrook Avenue as the new design will serve as the gateway to a new waterfront development area in Easton. Great effort was made to integrate population groups and preserve green space. The plan was developed with input from the Town of Easton which offered its own greenway easement because it was seen as a benefit to the town.
The master plan was completed in 11/08 to prepare for grant applications in the Spring 2009 and completion of construction documents over the summer of 2009.
A unique feature of the design is that the units were designed to be modular units. A modular home manufacturer was involved in reviewing the design of the units to assure an efficiently designed unit plan. The project, over a 7 acre site is project to cost in excess of $10,000,000.
